DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 21 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. \nAt 120 Russell Street\, Greenpoint Brooklyn\n\nCome support 596 Acres at F.E.A.S.T. #12 on Saturday January 21 at 5pm. For $20 you get a delicious dinner and to vote for your favorite projects. There are some wonderful ones listed here (we’re listed first\, which is nice\, but we need your hungry stomach and earnest vote to actually get the money we need to fund the next set of broadsheets and signs). \nArrive early to make sure that you get in. The menu for dinner is borscht. \nBecause you. cant. hold. back. spring. \nBring a date (that’s 2 votes!). \nFEAST #12\nSaturday\, January 21\, 2012\, 5 – 8pm\nChurch of the Messiah\, Greenpoint\, Brooklyn\n129 Russell Street (between Nassau & Driggs) \nF.E.A.S.T. (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) is a recurring public dinner designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund new and emerging art makers. At each FEAST\, patrons give a $20 donation for which they receive supper and a ballot. Diners spend the evening reviewing a series of project proposals and conversing with the artists behind each idea. Attendees cast a vote for their favorite proposal\, and by the end of the night\, the artist who garners the most votes is awarded a grant comprised of that evening’s door money. Since 2009\, FEAST Brooklyn has produced 11 dinners\, funded numerous projects and awarded over $17\,000. Meanwhile\, similar models have emerged all over the country\, resulting in a network of organizations committed to rethinking how art is financed and communally experienced. \n\nWe are F.E.A.S.T. funded now! \nJanuary 22\, 2012 \nThank you so much to everyone who came out to support 596 Acres at F.E.A.S.T. last night\, and to everyone who learned about us and decided to cast their vote our way. You rocked it. We won. New\, more accurate data\, new broadsheets and a new set of fence signs are on their way for spring.
